AI and Data: data maturity as a critical success factor

01 Jul 2026 Clipping IT Insight

On 25 June, Oramix attended IT Insight TALKS 2026, participating in a roundtable dedicated to the impact of Artificial Intelligence and Data on organisations, held at the Lispolis Technology Forum in Lisbon. Pedro Rocha, Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer at Oramix, joined representatives from Broadvoice, NetApp and Red Hat in a discussion moderated by Henrique Carreiro, Director of IT Insight magazine.

The discussion confirmed what is seen across project after project: data maturity remains the main obstacle to implementing AI projects. Gartner estimates that 85% of AI projects have failed due to poor data quality and that 60% of active projects will be abandoned by the end of 2026 for the same reason.

For Pedro Rocha, the consequences go beyond technical failure: “Without quality, without a catalogue and without governance, any AI use case is a demonstration, not a capability.” Without documented data lineage and clearly defined ownership, it is not possible to audit a decision made by an AI system, which is directly incompatible with the requirements of the AI Act.
